Construction & Hiking Trail Update

March 24, 2025

Many of you have asked: “When will the water line construction be done?” and more importantly - “When will they put back our hiking trail?”  You will be glad to know that the ongoing water pipeline construction along White Oak Bayou is nearing completion and the contractor has stated that everything should be restored and usable by late April 2025.

For those who are asking “Why is this being done?” here is a brief reminder: This project by the North Harris County Regional Water Authority (NHCRWA) brings new water supply pipelines to MUD 222’s Water Plant (located in the back of Wortham Grove) to provide treated surface water to our community. The pipeline along the bayou will connect to the larger pipeline that is being installed along the powerline easement and goes on to service other MUD districts on the other side of 290.

Visit https://www.nhcrwa.com/about/https://www.nhcrwa.com/about/ to learn more about why the switch to surface water is necessary to secure our long-term supply of water.

When will we convert to surface water? While this pipeline project may be finished soon, there is still much work to be done on the water line network that will bring water to our district. The current estimate for MUD 222 to convert to surface water is the end of 2025 or early 2026.

MUD 222 is currently preparing information about the surface water conversion and what our customers may expect. This information will be shared as we get closer to the conversion date.

We would like to ensure this information reaches our entire District so please encourage your neighbors to sign up for our resident alerts system.
